END THE CYCLE EXHIBITION IN SYDNEY

SYDNEY

On Friday 2 December, to coincide with International Day of People with Disabilities, END THE CYCLE put on a celebration with live music and speakers in Martin Place Sydney – the launch of our campaign in NSW.

Though they were forecasting rain, thankfully the early morning rain cleared to make way for our celebrations. So the crowds gathered to hear Melbourne folk-band Canos as well as local musician Tim Harris who all set a celebratory vibe for the day. Both bands are avid supporters of disability inclusion here in Australia and abroad and made the connection to the gathered crowds.

We also heard some powerful speeches from Dr Tom Shakespeare of the World Health Organisation, Aivee Chew of UNICEF Australia and Sam Cawthorn, 2009 Tasmanian Young Australian of the Year.

Each speaker brought their unique perspective of inclusion as passionate and active disability and development advocates.

The event was a great opportunity for people to hear about the cycle of poverty and disability. So many people took the opportunity to see our stunning photo exhibition and read the stories from people with disabilities telling their own stories in their own words!

We were honoured to bring these stories to Sydney in collaboration with our partners in Cambodia and the Solomon Islands.

That completes the photo exhibition tour for the year! Thanks to all who came along to the events throughout the year to be a part of it. Your ongoing support and commitment to inclusion is an invaluable step towards ending the cycle of poverty and disability.
